At DRAPÉ, every order is handled with care. Because our garments include both ready-to-wear pieces and garments that may be specifically tailored or made for an individual client, different return conditions apply.
Ready-to-wear purchases
For ready-to-wear items purchased from our online collection, returns may be considered where permitted by applicable law and where the item is returned in its original condition.
Items must be:
- Unworn
- Unwashed
- Undamaged
- Free from perfume, makeup, stains or other marks
- Returned with original tags and packaging where applicable.
Customers should contact DRAPÉ before sending any item back.
We reserve the right to inspect returned items before approving a return, exchange or refund.
Bespoke and Made-to-Measure Garments
Bespoke garments are made specifically for the individual client and are therefore not eligible for return simply because the client has changed their mind, no longer wants the garment, or experiences a change in personal circumstances.
This includes circumstances where a client:
- Gains or loses weight after measurements have been taken
- Experiences a change in body measurements
- Chooses a different size after the garment has been made
- Changes their mind about the design, fabric, colour or style after approval
- Decides that they no longer like the garment
- No longer requires the garment
- Purchases the garment for an event that is subsequently cancelled or changed
- Has a change in personal circumstances
A change in the client’s body shape, weight or measurements after the garment has been approved or made does not constitute a defect in the garment and does not entitle the client to a refund or return.
Because bespoke garments are created specifically for an individual client, they cannot ordinarily be resold to another customer.
Client Measurements and Fittings
Clients are responsible for providing accurate information and attending scheduled fittings where required.
Where DRAPÉ takes the client’s measurements, the client is responsible for informing DRAPÉ of any relevant changes in measurements before production or during the fitting process.
Once the client has approved the measurements, design and/or fitting, production may proceed.
Clients should therefore ensure that all measurements, design details and requested alterations are carefully reviewed before final approval.
Alterations to Bespoke Garments
Where a reasonable alteration is required because the finished garment does not correspond with the agreed measurements or approved specifications, DRAPÉ may assess the garment and, where appropriate, arrange a reasonable alteration.
This does not apply where the client’s body measurements have changed after the measurements were taken or approved.
Any alteration requested because of a change in the client’s size, weight or personal preference may be subject to an additional charge.
Defective or Incorrect Garments
Nothing in this policy is intended to limit any rights a consumer may have under applicable South African consumer law.
If a garment is defective, materially damaged on delivery, or does not correspond with the agreed description or specifications, please contact DRAPÉ as soon as reasonably possible.
We may request photographs, measurements or other information to assess the issue.
Where a valid defect or error is confirmed, DRAPÉ will provide an appropriate remedy in accordance with applicable law.
Incorrect or Damaged Delivery
If you receive an item that is materially different from what you ordered, or it arrives damaged, please contact DRAPÉ promptly after delivery.
Please provide:
- Your order number
- Photographs of the item
- Photographs of the packaging where relevant
- A description of the problem
We will assess the matter and advise you of the appropriate next step.
Items That Have Been Worn or Altered
We cannot accept a return or claim based solely on change of mind where an item has been:
- Worn
- Washed
- Altered by another tailor or third party
- Damaged through improper use
- Stained or soiled
- Exposed to perfume, makeup or other substances
- Modified after delivery
This does not affect any statutory rights that may apply where an item is genuinely defective.
REFUNDS
Where a refund is legally due and has been approved, it will be processed using the applicable original payment method where reasonably possible.
The time taken for the funds to reflect in the customer’s account may depend on the payment provider or financial institution.
Hiring Deposits and Payments
Bespoke garments involve the purchase of materials, labour and production specifically for an individual client.
Any deposit or advance payment relating to a bespoke order will be dealt with in accordance with the quotation, order agreement and applicable law.
Where production has commenced, cancellation may result in costs being incurred by the client to the extent permitted by applicable law and the agreed terms.
Exchanges
Bespoke garments are not exchangeable for another size, design or style merely because the client’s requirements or preferences have changed after production.
Ready-to-wear exchanges may be considered where applicable and subject to the item meeting the requirements for return.

Please contact DRAPÉ before sending any item back.
